Description
The Beatles's iconographic 1964 film A Hard Day's Night is considered by many to be the greatest movie ever made about a Rock & Roll band. It was re-released in the US in 1980. The original key art used for movie posters during the film's original release was replaced for the re-release with an image that over the years had become associated with the film: The Fab Four running in their Beatle suits, with grins on their faces and otherwise looking like they're have a grand time. This collection of graphic materials was used by the art director and printer to create the movie posters for the 1980 re-release. It includes printer mechanicals, negatives, stats, and printed typography. Most of the items are in black and white but two items are in color. The largest of the two, a printer's mechanical approximately 14 x 20, has the key art image set against a brilliant orange background. Altogether, there are approximately 50 separate items.
