Original Oil on Canvas by Walter L Greene Painted 1924 for 1925 New York Central Calendar "When Winter Comes". Known for his industrial and railroad images, Walter L. Greene (1870-1956) managed the Art Department for General Electric for 37 years, beginning in 1903. In the 1920s, he began to expand his horizons, after the New York Central Railroad starting issuing calendars for its employees and customers that featured illustrations of the Twentieth Century Limited. Greene joined the project in 1925 and was chief illustrator of the calendar images through 1931. Original paintings used on these calendars, such as this very early one from 1924, are highly desirable. O/C. 31" x 24". (Excellent).
