UTE GIRL'S 19TH CENTURY CRADLEBOARD. Classic example of the fine craftsmanship shown in Ute cradleboards. Ca. 1880-1895. Yellow ochre staining denotes a girl's, while one of the two loom beaded ornamentscontains her initials "M.E.". Piece has been overlapped and sewn shut, but is actually child sized and should be replaced. Flap is beaded with clear, red 'white hearts', green edged with blue and old yellow. The hood and board ornamentation is beaded with Ute blue, ruby, yellow and dark blue along with white. Tab trim is stained/painted. Long leather fringe on back. Some bead loss and minor wear. 31 1/4"l.
