FINE PLATEAU BEADED GAUNTLETS. FLAG AND SHIELD. The work of an Umatilla, Nez Perce or Yakima master craftsman. Very early Pendleton Roundup type wear. Cloth interior is cotton homespun. Tiny seed beads in many shades form lance shaped finger strips, patriotic flags and shields on hands and bright floral display on the cuffs. Worn binding and slight insect damage. Patch at right thumb. 19th Century.13 1/2" l. 8 1/2"w.
