California Gold Miner, 1/6 plate daguerreotype

One of the lucky ones. His dress is characteristic of the Gold Rush era as confirmed by several specialists. Note the pattern of buttons and the zig-zag pattern along the edges of his wide lapels and on the ends of his sleeves that extend past the jacket. His hat is on the table. Despite the finery, his hand (with gilded ring) shows the effects of hard digging. At least for the moment of his appearance at the studio, he is rich. 1/6 plate, resealed, in full case with renewed spine. Very minor peripheral wipes; rust spot above his head [3].
