Novelist Thomas Bailey Aldrich, endorsed to Taylor

Author of "The Story of a Bad Boy" and other works, Aldrich is most celebrated for his close friendship with the man of letters Bayard Taylor. Taylor was a major figure in the intellectual establishment of the period. This CDV is especially notable in that it is nicely endorsed on the recto "For Bayard Taylor/ from his friend/ J. B. Aldrich/ 1865." This is obviously a unique token of their friendship. Seems to have come from an archive of Taylor material. Vignette profile by Rockwood, NY. [4-]
