Album Of Photographs Of Iraq, Ca. 1928
Startling album from today's perspective, 36 – glossy 6" x 8" gel. silver prints, plus 36 smaller, inserted into album pages.
Some highlights are a view of Maude Bridge in Baghdad, with mounted men crossing; Cresiphon Arch; Baghdad Mosque, Samarra from above; street life and merchants; town views; plus 2 overviews of Lahore, India.
Most interesting are the 7 views of British planes over the country, plus 3 of damage to the planes in their hangars, testament of an earlier (but far from the earliest) period of upheaval in this region. Smaller views show scenes and women's dress. Photographs are clean and undamaged. [3+]
