American Militia Musician's Coatee, ca 1810-1820, 16 brass buttons, double-breasted red worsted wool uniform with gold bullion on standing collar. Musician's wings with gold bullion ovoid design. Collar with four domed brass buttons. Outer edges of collar, sleeves and front edges of coatee with off-white wool trim Both sleeves with three domed brass buttons and one flat button. Both flat buttons stamped on verso Double Gilt. Tail section of uniform with 15 brass buttons, triangular bullion design and two bullion hearts flanking both sides of coat's tail turnbacks. Interior of both sleeves with white webbed cotton liner. Complete with two pockets on the inside of the tail region.
Condition reportThe tails have been shortened. A few nominal moth holes on front of uniform, along left sleeve and inside of collar. Wool shows areas of wear and abrasions. Proper red and off-white worsted wool.
