Model 1860 7th Artillery Shako,

Model 1860 7th Artillery Shako, black felt body with black leather bands encompassing the dome and the base of the hat. Brass stylized sunburst planchet on front marked National Guard encircling a 7. Immediately above is a brass shield divided into four quarters. Both buttons flanking the sides of the hat with crossed cannons. Interior with black leather scalloped sweatband. Paper label on inside of the crown reads From John A. Baker Manufacturer and Dealer in Military Goods 162 Fulton Street, New York. Name written in ink DeWitt Le Vanderbilt 5th Co. NY. 8" height.

Condition report

Felt body with light soiling. Black leather with some abrasions and wear especially on band encompassing the crown and the front edge of the visor. Ca 98% of original label inside hat is complete. Light use evident around inside sweatband. Incorrect pompom.
