(DUTCH 1590-1654) FEAST IN THE HOUSE OF THE RICH MAN Signed and dated ND (conjoined) GISELAER F 1627" lower center left, oil on panel 18 3/4 x 27 in. (47.6 x 68.6cm)" Condition reportThe thin oak panel consists of two planks and is joined along the horizontal 7-5/8" from the bottom edge. The panel exhibits moderate convex warpage of approx. 3/4" from plane and is not cradled although the join has been reinforced with a thin wooden batten on the verso. A large area of thinly applied overpaint covers approx. 75% of the sky. The panel join is retouched and there is also extensive retouching covering abrasion and paint loss in the area immediately above and below the join. Numerous small, localized areas of retouching cover abrasion and paint loss in many of the figures.
