Oil on canvas, gilded frame. 
This is a vintage curiosity from the 1960s-70s. "Marie Charlot" was a fictional painter created by the Collector’s Corner Inc; painters from the Far East were hired by this company to create quasi-French, Victorian scenes and sign the finished piece with an European name. People were more likely to purchase from an English, American or French painter than they would if the work was signed with an Asian name. 
Painters were shown a reference piece and painted slightly different versions. Some of these paintings - of which the present lot is a prime example - showed good technique and were rather charming. The pastel pink hues are beautifully contrasted by the heavy gilded frame. Being at least 40 years old, this painting is a vintage piece in its own right.
