Beryl Cook, on this painting: "It’s an early summer evening in the centre of Bristol and here are the girls on a night out, dressed to kill in their little black numbers. That man on the bus seems very pleased to see them getting on board. I wonder if he will be a gentleman and give up his seat for one of them. But which one should he chose?"
