Williams, 1816, 424 pgs. each with stickers reading “M, S, Valentine Richmond, VA” and pencil signatures from Edward V. Valentine. contemporary protective covers over original front and back panels and contemporary two-volume case. H9 ¼” W6” Note: Mann S. Valentine, Jr. made a fortune with Valentine’s Meat Juice, a health tonic. He amassed a collection of hundreds of objects which provided the foundation for the Valentine Museum and Richmond History Center. His brother Edward, a renowned sculptor, was the museum’s first president from its opening in 1898 to 1930. He also left a considerable collection to the museum.
