The Hagenauer Werkstätte
The Hagenauer Werkstätte was founded in 1898 by Carl Hagenauer (1872-1928) in Vienna. Initially it focused on the production of classic Viennese bronzes, though after the turn of the century the design oriented on Art Nouveau, the new leading art movement. Particularly the community of the Wiener Werkstätte with Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser exerted a strong influence on the style of Hagenauer Werkstätte. Moreover, the appearance of the family business has been significantly influenced by the sons Karl (1898-1956) and Franz (1906-1986).
In order to identify the originality of the products, they were marked with the maker’s mark WHW, the word mark " Werkstätte Hagenauer Wien", "Made in Austria" and "Handmade".
