Victorian Revolving Mahogany Bookmill, c. 1880, with a stenciled manufacturers label for "John Danner, Canton, Ohio," the stepped ogee top over four sided open slatted shelves, on a quadruped swivel base with cast iron brackets on casters, H.- 68 3/8 in., W.- 23 1/8 in., D.- 23 1/8 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Two shelf slats are noted as loose at the top, with a third noted as splitting at the top and in the center. Nailheads are observed with a heavy patina, 2 are observed as missing. Wear to finish is observed throughout, with moderate scuffs and scratches observed on shelves and base. The shelves are especially worn towards the front edge. Faded and torn tag remnants are observed at the top, one saying “Travel” and the other “Reference – Atlases, Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Reports.” A unique and appealing piece.
