Description
French Cast Iron Marble Top Bistro Table, c. 1880, attributed to Jean Baptiste Andre Godin (1817-1888), the circular figured white marble with a reeded brass edge, on a tapered reeded support to a tripodal cabriole leg base to dolphin form feet, signed at the top of the base, H.- 28 in, Dia.- 20 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. The marble top is observed with three circular areas of cracking, the largest approximately 1 inch, with two observed with small losses at the center. Moderate scratching observed, especially in the center. Small areas of spotting are noted on the brass edge. Top wobbles slightly. Base is seen with dust debris, and mild losses to finish. A classic example.
