Description
Unusual French Alabaster, Marble, Champleve Enamel and Porcelain Pedestal, ca. 1900, the rouge marble base supporting the champleve-trimmed column standard, the capital set with hand-painted porcelain plaques depicting French noblewomen, marked "Fizel France depose", h. 43-1/2", w. 11-1/2", d. 11-1/2".
Condition
In overall very good to exceptional condition. The piece exhibits some normal rubbing to the gilt surfaces. Solid and stable. The stone is in near-pristine condition, with no chips to the edges of the onyx top, and no apparent repairs elsewhere. There is a small loss to the stone on the base pedestal, just inside an outer edge, of about 3/8" diameter.
