Description
Japanese Porcelain Figure of a Peacock, probably late Meiji period (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926), the gilded and enameled porcelain figure standing on a rock overlooking a pine tree and stream, the underside unmarked, h. 13-1/2", w. 7".
Condition
Very light craquelure to the glaze, particularly near the top of the rock. A very small firing crack (less than 1/4" long) next to one of the bird's feet that is virtually hidden by dark paint/glaze. No visible breaks or restoration.
