Description
REGRETFULLY WITHDRAWN

The 1973 Porsche 911S represented the pinnacle of Porsches sportscar program in the early 1970's, bettered only in performance terms by the 2.7RS. It was the last year of non-impact bumpers and lightweight cars. The 1973 'S' had the final development of the free revving 2.4 litre type 911/53 engine producing 190bhp. The transmission also benefitted from the new 915 gearbox which was stronger and offered an improved gear change. The 'aero' package was improved by the fitment of a front valance spoiler which reduced front end lift. Coupled with Porsche's total domination of the World Sportscar Championship and Steve McQueens endorsement in the film Le Mans they could do no wrong with the now iconic 1973 911S and derivatives.

This 911S Coupe is one of the final F series cars and must rank as one of best available. Delivered new on January 2nd 1973 this UK car was first owned by Lt Col Potter of Cambridgeshire finished in Sepia Brown with Beige trim. He owned the car for two years logging his trips and clocking up 23,051 miles most notably with trips to Geneva and Genoa. The history file contains all of the owners up until it was purchased by Stephen Skinner of Frinton-on-Sea with 100,831 miles covered in November 1994. It was at this stage that he decided upon a full restoration and entrusted the services of Greenspeed Autosylists of Essex. Well renowned for their excellence in such significant restorations the year long process was the personal project of Martin Green himself. The fact that this 911S still remains in concours condition is testament to his work some twenty years later.  It now has the appearance of a factory fresh original resplendent in Gemini Blue metallic paint.

With such well-documented history that shows a complete line of ownership and maintenance this beautiful 1973 Porsche 911S 2.4 Coupe represents the very best of these iconic benchmark cars. With values virtually re-aligning daily the 911 story continues to make headline news as 2.7RS Lightweights nudge towards a value of £1,000,000. The 911S was always nearly 50% the value of a good 2.7RS Touring which are now changing hands at circa £500,000...you do the mathematics.
