Description

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C2 was built between 1962 and 1967. The most significant year of product development for the Corvette Stingray was 1965 when disc brakes were fitted all round as standard and the awesome 425bhp 396 cubic inch (7 litre) Turbojet 'big block engine' became available.
This car is exactly that; A 1965 Big Block Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 396 that has been meticulously prepared by the vendor to full FIA specification, a process that has taken over 4 years to complete, and it comes with full current FIA papers.

The detail that has gone in to the preparation of this car is quite extraordinary. Built from a strong and very solid road car -the chassis was sandblasted, seam welded and gusseted prior to a bespoke T45 cage being fitted and then repainted inside and out. The engine is freshly rebuilt and the detailed exact specification is in the car's accompanying history file. Suffice to say over 500bhp is available....

The transmission has been built to withstand endurance racing with a twin plate clutch, a Hurst shifter and an oil cooled 'Muncie' racing gearbox. Twin coolers serve both the gearbox and the GM Positraction 3.5:1 limited slip differential. The car has heavy duty full race adjustable suspension and dual calliper disc brakes. It has a 36 gallon foam filled long distance racing fuel tank and a new bespoke wiring loom fitted.

Period touches have been researched and located with a Goodwood Revival invitation very much in mind. Period correct Stuart Warner instruments are fitted along with most of the original interior and a 'period' NASCAR fully bolstered race seat, trimmed in the original period red leather.
The car has the correct FIA hinged bonnet with mandatory quick release hinges (the bonnet is the rare correct one for the original 'big block' cars). Lightweight Perspex side windows and headlamp covers finish off this exciting race car which is ready to race throughout Europe in all series including Masters Gentleman Drivers and many other 60's Sports car grids and Classic Le Mans. Correct and current FIA HTP papers are present.
