Description
The "Big Healeys" have long been viewed as the ultimate British sportscars of the 1960's, the 3000 being the most desirable. Development of the line started with the 1952 Healey 100 launched at the London Motor Show. The evocative lines and superb handling of the Healey made it a sleek and successful rally car all around the world. With its 6-cylinder 2996cc engine giving plenty of torque, the cars are more than capable of long distance touring.
"TGC 449E" is a MKIII 3000 'Phase 2' that was originally exported to California in 1967. It was repatriated in 2003 after an extensive and well-documented restoration. Since 2003 it has had just three previous keepers and the odometer shows a believed genuine 64,879 miles. During 2011 the then owner commissioned the respected Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialists, Hanwell Car Centre, to carry out a bare metal respray in its original colours of Red over Cream. New carpets were also fitted and the interior re-connollised.
Accompanying this stunning "Big" Healey is a large history file containing photographic evidence of its restoration in the USA and the bare metal respray in 2011. Supplied with current UK V5C and a fresh MOT to June 2015, "TGC 449E" is presented looking resplendent and ready for a new owner.
