Description
2011 marked the 50th birthday of the iconic E-Type, which was well celebrated at our 2011 sale at the Silverstone Classic. This was when the largest gathering of E-Types in the world took to the circuit. From 1961, the E-Type evolved and improved in its lifecycle from the original Series 1 Coupés and Roadsters, through the Series 2 cars of the late 1960s until finally the Series 3 arrived - only in 5.3 V12 format in late 1971. Available only as a convertible or a '2+2', there were only 7,990 convertibles produced worldwide of the Series 3.
This original righthand drive UK car was first registered on 21st September 1973 to Sir Charles Forte of the Trust House Forte Hotel Group. The current mileage is just over 66,000 miles from new and there is a history file detailing recent expenditure. Presented in nice original order, the V12 engine pulls well and is mated to an automatic transmission. The paint was painted approximately 4 years ago and the biscuit leather interior was trimmed at the beginning of 2013 and remains in lovely condition.
This E-Type roadster has been driven by a Silverstone Auctions employee and we can report that the car starts, stops and steers as it should. Offered in a lovely colour combination, this car represents excellent value considering climbing prices of V12 roadsters.
