Description
When the 993 was first launched in 1993 it heralded the acme of engineering know-how in the traditional flat six air-cooled boxer engine from the birth of the very original 911 over 30 years before.
Often cited by enthusiasts as "the last real Porsche" the car straddles the bridge between pure high performance driving thrills, visceral dynamics, and appealing design-led solutions to emissions and safety requirements. No previous 911 variant had such high-speed cornering ability and stability via the use of widened track and all-alloy rear suspension. The six speed manual gearbox not only surpassed the previous four and five speed gearboxes in usability, but most commentators also found it to be a quicker reacting and a smoother gear change, in turn allowing full concentration to be employed on the road ahead rather than fighting the gears themselves.
The Targa, introduced for the 1996 model year, changed the future of Porsche targa roof designs by being an all-glass retractable surface rather than removable panels - cementing the link between heightened functionality and aesthetic form demanded by buyers from the 1990s onwards. This design had the added visceral benefit of a clean coupe line from A to C pillar (previous Targas incorporating bulky roll-over protection on the B pillar to facilitate the removable panels).
This particular car from August 1997 is resplendent in Ocean Blue Metallic with Classic Grey Leather. A UK supplied and specification model benefiting from having just three previous owners, her service history and documentation are immaculate, as are her full quota of 15 MOTs. In full showroom condition, the current owner has been custodian since June 2010 and has spent £16,604 ensuring it remains flawless in the past two years alone safeguarding your investment today for the foreseeable future.
Showing a warranted mileage fewer than 50,000, this Porsche was last serviced by respected marque specialist, Autofarm Porsche in July 2013 at 44,995 miles. Having travelled fewer than 2,500 miles since a simple oil change is all that will be required for the remainder of 2014. This impressive vehicle is to be sold in superb condition and above standard specification with a Tracker system, Sony removable radio, and third brake light. Only very rarely do cars of this standard come to market.
