BEAUTIFUL Russian Icon of the Burning Bush. This subject is based on the vision of Moses on Mt.Horeb. The Virgin and Child are within an oval mandorla, contained within two curved squares, forming an octagonal star - the symbol of the future aeon. Angels surround the Virgin. Icons of this subject are believed to protect against fire. Circa 1880s. Hand painted with egg tempera. Gesso on wood panel. Size: 10.5 by 12". Very good condition.Authenticity guaranteed.
