DESCRIPTION: These are a huge American handmade copper tavern pouring pitcher ewer and a tavern pint tankard measure from New England circa 1700s. The copper tavern pitcher is massive in size and has a raised bottom. The wide pouring rim is rolled and the sides of the copper tavern pitcher are secured with large copper rivets. The copper tavern pitcher has a huge wide solid brass handle that is attached with copper rivets. The huge copper tavern pitcher was used for serving spirits at a tavern or a public house. The maker's mark of an anchor “ with the initials “AZ” is stamped on the bottom of the copper tavern pitcher. There are two old repairs upon the raised bottom, as if some one had too much of the tavern spirits and fired a gun, that went through the copper bottom raised surface. It is amazing that it did not go through the pouring vessel body (see photos). There are no leaks and the vessel pours perfectly! The tavern pint tankard is handmade of solid copper, unmarked, and is heavy in weight. MEASUREMENTS: The copper tavern pitcher is 12 inches long including the spout and handle, 7 inches wide and 11 inches high.
