The painting presented here was created by the French genre painter Jules de Ruinart Brinant in the year 1861. The image shows a young woman washing the laundry as she just found a letter in the garment lying in the wash bowl. Her cheeks blush while reading the letter and also a reserved smile can be read from her lips. The painter Ruinart shows some great attention to detail in his paintings, the particularly finely painted vine tendrils in the foreground are illuminated by the oblique incident sunlight. Also the representation is peppered with loving animals, such as a butterfly or with everyday objects such as the shaded ceramic beer jug on the left side.
The painting is signed and dated 'Jules Ruinart. 1861 '. It is in good condition, with some retouching around the head. Small traces due to framing. Overall of good impression. Image size: 28 x 38 cm. Overall dimensions framed: 45.5 x 35.5 cm. The frame with slight traces of use.
