This in mixed media created brush drawing was created by Italian painter Carlo Levi depicts a head of a man wearing a hat. A dog is looking behind his shoulder towards the viewer. In the image foreground two outlined birds can be seen. The brush drawing is covered by a pattern of green expressive lines.
The drawing by Carlo Levi is signed lower left ‘CLevi’ and is in a very good condition, showing only minor signs of age and use such as framing marks and minimal yellowing of the sheet. The frame also shows slight traces of use. The image measures 99.5 x 68.5 cm and is matted. The overall dimensions including the frame are 118 x 87 cm.

Carlo Levi was born 1902 in Turin. He was a successful writer and also discovered painting as one of his passions in which he preferred the ‘true ‘ and ‘unprettified’ Realism, especially in his portraits and landscapes, over abstract art. (cru)
