Description
DESCRIPTION: This is an American open hearth copper dovetailed goose neck tea kettle from New England, circa 1700s for your consideration. The copper tea kettle is handmade and is an American primitive staple. The copper tea kettle is large in size and has a bulbous body and shape. The American tea kettle is made of copper, tin lined inside, and has an extended goose neck pour spout. The Handle on the Antique Copper Tea Pot is large, wide, moveable, and riveted to the sides of the large tea kettle. The lid fits snug into the mouth of the kettle, and the finial top is strong, sturdy, and stationary. This copper tea kettle bears the markings of early dovetailing as seen on the back side and bottom. The seams on the copper tea kettle are brazed (using molten brass like glue) for a perfect seal. Copper dovetailing requires extraordinary skill acquired through long, dedicated practice. The bottom of the copper tea kettle shows the scorch marks from sitting on a trivet or griddle over an open hearth cooking fire. There is an early repair upon the bottom of copper tea kettle (see photos). The copper tea kettle is clean on the inside and has no leaks and a beautiful strong pour from the goose neck spout. The copper tea kettle can still be used as the inside is without corrosion.MEASUREMENTS: 14 ½ inches long, 8 inches wide at bottom, and 30 inches round in circumference.SHIPPING: Packaging, handling, and shipping for all locations in the 48 Continental United States is $35.
