Good condition
This abstract composition by Eastern German painter Eberhard Dietzsch shows one of the characteristic cityscapes the artist painted throughout his life. It was executed in the 1990s. Many influences, such as the Cubists, the Fauve and the Expressionists had a great impact on Dietzsch. The skyline is depicted as a number of geometrical fields with expressive colours. This painting is executed with acrylic colours and carbon pencil on hardboard.
The painting most likely comes with the original studio frame and measures in total 88 x 64 cm (82 x 60 cm hardboard only). It is in good condition with minimal traces of wear. The frame shows some signs of use.
Eberhard Dietzsch (1938-2006)
The Eastern German artist studied at the professional school for applied art of Leipzig under Karl Miersch and Hajo Rose. After a short engagement as graphic designer in Gera he worked as an independent graphic artist and painter since 1959. He studied under Klaus Wittkugel at the Berlin academy of art from 1971 until 1973. Gera has been awarding an art prize since 2008 which is named after Dietzsch. (afa)
