DESCRIPTION: This is an outstanding hooked and mounted folk art rug from Southeast Pennsylvania circa mid to late 1800s! Handmade rug hooking reached its peak in Pennsylvania in the mid to late 19th century. The folk art hooked rug is handmade of cotton scraps on burlap backing. The folk art hooked rug has a design of a pair of black rabbits, fronting each other, with a striated background of polychrome neutral colors. There are flowers made of lollipop circles between the two black bunnies. The outside of the folk art hooked rug is a solid neutral green color, which frames and borders the folk art scene. The folk art hooked rug has a woven flax fringe and decorative black button eyes on the black bunnies.
