Description
Mexican Maskmaker, [20th Century]. "Mexican Mask [Traditional - 0028]. Tlacololero Mask. From the Dance of the Tlacololeros, Chilpancingo, State of Guerrero [Mexico]". Hand-painted, hand-carved polychromed natural wood sculpture. First half of the 1970s. A "danced" mask. Not made for the tourist trade or for sale, but created by the indigenous person to be used only in a ceremonial dance. Overall condition good. Provenance: From a highly important private collection, consisting of over 2,000 masks, Mexico City. Approx 13in high, 9in wide, 6in deep (300mm x 140mm x 150mm). MO Inv #MA0030. [23306] |400| {K90}
