Description:
306 pp. (8vo) black gilt-lettered cloth and spine. First Edition ("Library Edition").
Published the same year as Homer Lea’s best-selling “Valor of Ignorance”, with a similar fantasy plot – the Japanese conquest of the west coast of the United States, beginning with an attack on Hawaii and the invasion of California by 250,000 Japanese troops - ultimately defeated by a British-American alliance. This rare book was entirely overshadowed by Lea’s and was virtually unknown until recently reprinted as representative of early anti-Japanese themes in American fiction. Little is known about the author, an Illinois resident, who had apparently studied medicine in England.
Condition
Some discoloration of cover, slight foxing mostly in first part; else very good or better.
