HERMANN FUECHSEL [1833-1915] American painter. Fuechsel began his formal art studies with landscape painter Hans Heinrich Jurgen Brandes at the Dusseldorf Academy. While at the academy he woyuld meet great American artist AlbertBierstadt. He began exhibiting at the Pennsylvania Academy in 1860, as well as the National Academy of Design in NY, and Boston Athenaeum. He is one of America's most published artists. The painting, "Storm King" depicts a port scene on the lake at historical Storm King Mountain, which is in NY State along the banks of the Hudson river. It has been a popular subject for painters, such as Homer Dodge Martin, for well over 100 years. The painting has never been offered forauction, and has always been in the posession of the original owners family. This is an important and historical work. Measures 14" X 24". With period frame. Condition: Very Good. The painting has NEVER been cleaned.
