Vintage copper box with enameled top in blue and white, by artist Edward Winter. United States, c. 1930s - 1940s; signed on interior lid "Winter." Dimensions: approx. 4-7/8" W x 3-5/8" D x 1-1/8" H. Edward Winter (1908-1976) as an important American enamel artist, who played a critical role in developing enameling in the United States. He studied design with famed artist Josef Hoffmann and ceramist and designer Michael Polowny. (Source: website of the Enamel Arts Foundation).
Condition
In vintage condition, with pitting and scratches to the copper box. A chip in the upper left and lower right corner of the enamel.
