Andrew Jackson: Large Copper Lustre Pitcher. 6.75" tall copper lustre pitcher issued in 1824 or 1828 to promote the candidacy of Andrew Jackson. It has sloping sides and a blue ground. Each side has black transfer portraits inscribed: "General Jackson The Hero of New Orleans". One portrait is essentially perfect while the other is centered to the bottom, rotated slightly and has a few scrapes or imperfections. A small transfer depicting fruit is located under the spout. There is one small chip on the base, of no consequence. There is also a spider crack that appears in the area of the fruit transfer, but this is very tight and barely perceptible. We can detect no restorations or repairs. Quite a nice example overall and a terrific display piece from a seminal campaign.
