Description
Woodrow Wilson and Uncle Sam: A Rare 7/8" Cartoon Button. Your writer had never encountered this item before, but Don Ackerman recalls seeing one once (this one, coming out of a collection built in the 1970s, could be that example). Considering Wilson's many trials and tribulations, the "You should worry Woodrow" could have any number of associations; however, it seems likely that the button was worn by Americans pleased with Wilson's accomplishments. We are reminded of the cigarette premium button of the period showing a chubby man carrying a bag of money, reading "I Should Worry?" Like the fat man with ample resources and no need to worry, Uncle Sam here congratulates Wilson on a job well done. Exhibits some very minor light edge foxing, barely visible from the front, with rust on verso. Very good overall.
