Description
A pair of large cast door fittings in Warring States, 5th century BC style, undated archaistic parts comprising: an openwork D-shaped monster mask with serpentine beast-heads to the upper edge modelled in the round and half-round; a C-shaped hollow-cast staple; a cast ring with scrolled tendril decoration and two beast-heads modelled in the half-round; mounted on a custom-made stands. See The Genius of China, 1973, p.97, number 135 for a very similar example. 12.3 kg total, 68cm each (26 3/4"). Acquired on the London art market in the late 1990s.
