Illuminated wood and composition Americana diorama of a 1930's New York City Street Scene depicting his best known images conjured together in a massive installation - albeit slightly skewed amidst a rough night of drinking with a partial Dr. Pepper ad painted upon the bricks behind 2-men on a Mohawk Indian (Jewelry ad) bench talking with watermelon,booze and cigarettes, across an alley cat prying through the trash where forgotten cowboy boots and ladies pumps lay strewn. A man can be seen through the lit doorway, and two lonely neighbors ease drop from above. A large broken telephone pole looms with a 'no parking' sign. The piece comes forward and shows the beat up street. Built into a stucco surround measures 7' x 42.5" x 27" and the diorama area measures 57" H x 39.5" W x 16" signed bottom right 1977. Note this appears to be one of Garman's custom Cityscapes of Yesteryear commissioned by the estate.
