FRENCH MODEL 1804 NAVAL CUTLASS KLINGENTHAL MARKED French Model 1804 Naval Cutlas (Sabre de Marine Briquet ) with Klingenthal Armory mark on back of blade, dated 1831, and inspection stamp of Director Jean Baptiste Regneault. Curved blade with no fuller measures just over 23 inches in length. One piece brass hilt, with "D" knuckle bow, and rack number 175 on quillon. French inspection poincons on knuckle bow indicate inspection by Captain Colliot de la Hattais, Acting Director March 14, 1832; Jean Georges Bick, First Class Controller; Joseph Ambrose Bisch, Second Class Controller. Leather scabbard with brass throat and chape. Type: Sword Country: France Blade Length: 23 inches
Condition
Mellow grey patina to blade, hilt excellent. Expected age to leather n scabbard, and tarnish on fittings, but otherwise intact and very good. Overall very good.
