NAIVE CIVIL WAR SHIP'S PORTRAIT - USS Hartford in a Storm, unsigned, inscribed at bottom, graphite and watercolor on paper. In lemon gold frame, under glass. OS: 19 3/4" x 22 1/4", SS: 16 3/4" x 19 1/4". Loss to upper edge, a few small holes. The Hartford was the flagship of Admiral David G. Farragut, Commander of the West Gulf Blockading Squadron. Against the odds, he ran her up the Mississippi and helped take Vicksburg.
