WILLIAM HARNDEN FOSTER (DE/MA, 1886-1941); "And Rosalie Turned Away", oil on canvas, signed lower left and dated 1911, titled verso, probably for a magazine illustration, in narrow gold molded frame, OS: 28 1/4" x 21 1/4", SS: 26 1/4" x 19 1/4", cleaned and relined. An avid sportsman and fowling artist, Foster invented the sport of Skeet shooting with Charles Davis in Andover, Mass., between 1920 and 1923.
