An excellent Moche figure from Peru, ca. 400 – 700 AD. This large standing female is 6-3/4 in high and is depicted with hands held to her chest. She is adorned with a broad collar or necklace, matching bracelets and large ear ornaments, all of which are molded in high relief, incised and enhanced with paint. Furthermore, her face is decorated with rare ritual tattoos. Intact, strong mineral deposits. Cf. 'Art of the Andes', page 172, for similar from the Sackler collection.
