"The Trouble with Cali" is being filmed in Northeastern
Pennsylvania by actor and producer Paul Sorvino who plans to

here, in the form of a $12 million to $15 million production
facility.
Crews
are scheduled to start production and shoot 95 percent of "Cali"
in and around Scranton, wrapping up by Christmas. Mr.
Sorvino's movie will tell the tale of Cali Bluejones, a
15-year-old girl with dreams of escaping her dysfunctional
family in favor of the glitz and glamour of the modeling
industry.
Mira Sorvino, daughter of Paul Sorvino with an A.B. from
Harvard University in East Asian Studies and who is fluent in
Mandarin Chinese. In 1996 she was chosen by People magazine

Mr. Sorvino, his son, Michael, and daughter, Mira, all have
roles in the movie, which was also written by Mr. Sorvino's
other daughter, Amanda. Montreal-born actress Laurence LeBoeuf
will play the title role, with Mr. Sorvino as her policeman
father. Her pursuit goes awry, however, when she falls prey to
promises from a hustler, played by Mr. Sorvino's son, Michael,
who entangles the youth "in his own homicidal fantasy."
Mr. Sorvino's daughter, Mira, also stars in a role credited as
the "ballet master." "It is a tragi-comedy," the veteran actor
said. "The movie is somewhat surreal."
