Over his four-year career at Hickory, he hit .438, with 13 home runs, and 90 RBI.  Created the David Wright Foundation in 2005 to raise awareness and monies for different charities.

From a young age, these charitable values were instilled in David, and his brothers Stephen, Matthew, and Daniel. Rhon Wright is a police officer, and the four boys observed their father dedicate himself towards helping the community. As he grew older, David himself helped donated some of his time to the Norfolk Police Athletic League.

“I have been very fortunate to be put in a position where I can give back and that I can hopefully use my name to benefit good things,” said David. “I love being in a position where I can help out.” Being in the New York spotlight has put David in the position to make a long lasting impact, and enabled him to help those in need.

Ladies, here is your chance to meet "Mr. Wright" in person on the field.

Gentlemen are invited to bid as well!

David is not one to leave his responsibilities on the field. He does all that he can to help the community and the fans.  The David Wright Foundation held its first event of December 16, 2005 at the New York Stock Exchange Member’s Club, bringing in over $100,000 for two Multiple Sclerosis (MS) centers.

It was during a tour of the Gimbel Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center at Holy Name Hosptial in Teaneck, New Jersey that David first experienced the enormous impact that the foundation can make. The Gimbel Center is one of the first beneficiaries of the foundation. David hopes the foundation will grow and continue to help the greater New York City Community.

In 2006, David has continued his path to stardom. In less than half a season, David already has three game winning hits as he helps the Mets fight for a division championship.

Wright was named to the NL All-Star Game as a starter and he was selected as the June Player of the Month for the NL, as well as being a two-time Player of the Week during the month. He finished ninth in the NL with a .311 batting average and tied for seventh with 116 RBIs. He became the fourth player in club history to have consecutive 100-RBI seasons, joining Gary Carter, Darryl Strawberry and Mike Piazza. He finished second in the Home Run Derby, and he became the 14th player in history to hit a  homer in his first at-bat in the All-Star Game. He hit .327 with 20 runs, four doubles, 10 home runs, 29 RBIs, and had three stolen bases during the month of June. He had a game-winning, three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning on July 9 against the Marlins to give the Mets a 7-6 win. He had 51 multi-hit  games and hit safely in his first eight games of the year, while ending the season with a hit in 12 straight games.
