WILLIAM SHIRLEY, Colonial Governor of Massachusetts.
Document Signed, “W. Shirley” as Governor, 1.5 pages, plus attached leaf, April 19, 1756, Province of Massachusetts, 7.25” x 6,” Fine. Medium age toning, original seal still attached. A manuscript document requiring the militia belonging to Colonel Samuel Miller’s Regiment (stationed at Castle William) to continue on active duty there. Accompanied by a 1749 Document signed by Shirley’s son, John, on an affidavit concerning his attempt to carry out the instructions of his father and the possible need for a warrant. This document was executed in London, England and bears three, embossed Six Pence Revenue Stamps. (2 documents)
