Beautiful condition
This Buddha head, made of cast bronze, originates from Thailand during the 17th century of the Ayutthaya period (1350-1767). It displays very expressive, aristocratic facial features with pronounces eyebrows, half-closed eyelids, a narrow, sharp nose and a gently smiling mouth. In addition, it is richly decorated with an ornamented crown and distinctive earrings. The head exudes calmness and balance in its fine execution and beautiful composition.
The bronze cast is filled with cinder and features a peg for mounting that was fitted later. The head is in good condition, appropriate for the age of the artifact, with according surface marks and malachite-coloured patina in some places.
