Elegant figure of a white Tara in deep meditation on a pedestal with encircling lotus leaves in relief
This copper bronze sculpture represents a white Tara on a lotus pedestal with encircling double lotus leaves in padmâsana. In this position the left hand is displaying the varada Mudra, the gesture of wish fulfilment. Her palm is directed to the viewer and is placed on the knee. The left hand is raised to her chest and forms with thumb and middle finger the shunya Mudra. Ribbons in open work surround the sculpture which is also decorated with exquisite jewelry.
The Tara is rendered in deep meditation with half closed eyes. The finely engraved hair is tied in a high node and skeins of her hair are falling over the shoulders. The white Tara is a symbol of purity and an icon of empathy.
The copper bronze is in very good condition with hardly any sings of age and wear. The sculpture is 11 cm high and 7 cm wide.
