Description: A saddled horse stands in the middle of an empty field, head bowed low to pull up grass to eat. In its saddle, a rifle is sheathed in a leather case, slung between the stirrups and the saddle. A small blanket is bundled behind the leather saddle, bound with a string. The horse itself is a dark brown or black, with white patches at the bottom of its back legs and up from the muzzle to between its ears. The plain behind it is expansive, but bear, the tips of a mountain range in the far distance. On the back of the frame is the inscription, "This is TROT who sends his best wishes and assurances of faithfulness"
Condition: Highly reflective, but beginning to show signs of darkening. There are marks that appear similar to crimson crayon in short dashes along the surface. The card mount is ragged along the edges, a noticeable chip at the center of the bottom edge.
History: Silver nitrate photography came into use during the late 1800s, where it revolutionized the ability to take and store images in detail in a relatively short amount of time. It grew to be an inexpensive industry accessible to almost everyone as a way of preserving memories and creating imaginative scenes.
