Description
Magic Realism, art that "inspires awe" at its ability to capture the reality of the commonplace, is the art style of Steve Holecka, a young West Coast artist who captures milk cans, rocks, feathers, people he has known and places he has seen with precise drawing and careful craftsmanship. Subjects are built up slowly with many minute brushstrokes. The result is a strong immediacy. While brush work is complex, design is simple. Often, wide clear skies provide a simple frame for objects in the foreground. This serves to illuminate the objects and imparts a timeless quality to many of the works.
