This lot comprises seven bottles of 1982 vintage Viña Herminia Reserva produced by Bodegas Lagunilla in the Spanish wine region of Rioja.
Rioja is a classic amongst fine wines, known for being a long-lasting, elegant red, usually with cooler aromas. Rioja wine is created in the cooler northern part of Spain, in the wine-growing region of the same name. The Rioja wine type was first established in the 19th century, when the area experienced an increase in prosperity. Bordeaux was used as a blueprint for the development, which is why oak barrels were used for wine storage from the very beginning. Riojas are largely cuvées, of which the native Tempranillo red grape variety contributes the most in terms of flavor. What sets Riojas apart from the rest is that they are sold at varying stages of the ripening process: as Crinza (two years), Reserva (three years) and Gran Reserva (five years). Before reaching stores, the wines are matured in oak barrels and bottles. Just as with other red wine classics, there are numerous different styles. The traditional Rioja requires longer to reach its optimal maturity. Additionally, the so-called modern style ripens quicker due to specific vine-growing and oenological conditions.
1982 was a great vintage in Rioja, one of the best of the past decades. The production of Gran Reservas was above average in this year and these wines will taste absolutely great today.
The fill levels are mostly good (6x top shoulder), only one bottle has a lower fill level (1x mid shoulder). The labels are soiled and damaged. The capsules are in perfect condition.
